SUMMARY:TECA's Quality First Principles of Moving Air in Kamloops
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nPOMA was developed to provide an in-depth explanation of how air moves through a duct system. This course will be a benefit to everyone working in the New\, Retrofit or Repair portions of the industry. It was developed to give those who are designing or installing duct systems the ability to create quiet\, efficient systems which deliver the required volumes while using the least fan energy. Today\, furnaces\, heat pumps and ventilation systems require larger volumes of air to be moved. Duct fitting shape\, the number of fittings\, air filters\, coils all contribute to reduced flow in ductwork. \nAir filters and their installation are covered thoroughly. The course teaches how to measure current duct system volume and how to calculate the future air flow capacity of the system. A must for retrofit applications. Students learn the relationships of pressure\, pressure drop\, volume\, velocity and power and then will be shown these concepts in practice via demonstrations with our scale model. The knowledge gained of how to incorporate these components and concepts efficiently into a duct system is invaluable. \nCertificates\nThis course has been pre-approved for 16 Continuing Professional Development Points through BC Housing. \nAre you interested in offering Provincial rebates to your clients? TECA’s POMA course is a required qualification to becoming a registered HVAC contractor in the Home Performance Contractors Network. \nSuccessful participants of this course will receive a wallet card and certificate along with a whole new perspective on duct design and further be one step closer to qualifying for ‘the soon to be adopted’ TECA Forced Air Designer Certificate. \nRegistration\n\nTECA members: $559\nTECA non-members: $659\n\nIncludes cost of food and refreshments. \nRegister on Eventbrite

SUMMARY:All-In-One: Intro to Hydronic Heat Pumps
DESCRIPTION:Wouldn’t it be great to have a single heat pump system that handles home heating\, air conditioning\, and domestic hot water in one package? \nHydronic\, or air-to-water\, heat pumps can do that and more. Water has high thermal capacity\, so hydronic systems are super efficient and nimble\, allowing for precise temperature control and zoning. And for retrofitters\, they are the perfect replacement for a natural gas boiler. \nLearn more about the design and installation best practices for air-to-water heat pumps in retrofit scenarios with Community Energy Association and Ecolighten. \nRegister on Eventbrite \n  \nNotes\nEvent is free of charge\, but you must pre-register for the webinar you’d like to attend. \nIf you can’t attend the webinar – no problem! We’ll provide the slide deck and a link to the recording to all those who have registered. \nContinuing Professional Development (CPD) Points through BC Housing are pending. \n  \nAbout the Presenter\nRob Pope\, Senior Consultant\, Ecolighten Energy Solutions \nRob started working in the HVAC industry in the mid 1970s where he began his apprenticeship in high-end custom homes\, quickly earning tickets in sheet metal\, refrigeration and gas fitting. During this time\, he installed\, serviced and began designing the first wave of energy-efficient systems such as condensing gas furnaces and boilers\, heat recovery ventilation\, heat pumps and solar thermal. Rob was the Mechanical Consultant on the first residence in Canada to achieve a Canadian LEED® certification. As an active member of the industry he has served as an executive member of the HVCI and TECA industry associations\, advocating for higher standards and better education for its members.
