DESCRIPTION:Heat pumps are making headway in the market even as manufacturers continue to innovate for cold climates like Canada’s. Find out what’s coming down the line\, so you can give the best recommendations as an HVAC technician\, retrofit contractor\, or builder. \nThe magic of heat pumps depends on refrigerants to move heat from outdoors to inside—even in some of the coldest weather we face as Canadians. But refrigerants can be risky in the unfortunate situation of a leak. That’s why a new class of refrigerants is hitting the market\, designed to be less harmful to the environment in the event of a leak. \nAnd more technological innovation is coming to cold-climate heat pumps too. Refrigerants and compressors even better optimized for cold weather can help heat pumps continue to perform well to lower temperatures. We’ll provide the slide deck and a link to the recording to all those who have registered. \nThis event has been pre-approved for 1 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Point through BC Housing. \n  \nAbout the Presenter\nRob Pope\, Senior Consultant\, Ecolighten Energy Solutions \nRob started working in the HVAC industry in the mid 1970s where he began his apprenticeship in high-end custom homes\, quickly earning tickets in sheet metal\, refrigeration and gas fitting. During this time\, he installed\, serviced and began designing the first wave of energy-efficient systems such as condensing gas furnaces and boilers\, heat recovery ventilation\, heat pumps and solar thermal. Rob was the Mechanical Consultant on the first residence in Canada to achieve a Canadian LEED® certification. As an active member of the industry he has served as an executive member of the HVCI and TECA industry associations\, advocating for higher standards and better education for its members.
