Are you aware of the vehicle efficiency measures published by Natural Resources Canada? (At: http://www.nrcan.gc.ca/energy/efficiency/transportation/cars-light-trucks/buying/7487) Do you think anyone you know has ever used them when considering purchasing a new vehicle?
I do not know of any of my friends have used this tool – I certainly will be next time I am in the market and will be sure to pass along the information. I do know that about half my friends consider fuel economy when purchasing a vehicle.
No – I wasn’t aware of this resource (or any of the great resources covered in the vehicle efficiency section of this course). I also doubt anyone I know has used them, except possibly the other senior energy planner here at YG, who was thrilled with the fuel efficiency of her new car last year. I will echo Geoff and will pass on this info when possible.
I have used the tool when I was last thinking about a newer vehicle. I do not know of anyone who used the tool but I do know people who did refer to the fuel efficiency stickers on the vehicles at the dealer as part of their decision on whether to buy or not.
I’ve used the US Department of Energy data for research, but I hadn’t come across this one. Many friends have bought electric in the last year; I can’t keep track of how many.
