About these resources
Retrofit 101 is a general awareness campaign for contractors and realtors looking to educate clients on the benefits of home energy retrofits. Contractors and Realtors are uniquely positioned to have conversations with homeowners about improvements and proactive solutions to make a home more comfortable and efficient.
These materials are education-based, not linked to a product or a program. The need for this type of free, unbranded, and accurate information emerged through a partnership between the City of Port Moody, the Capital Regional District, the BC Real Estate Association, the Regional District of the East Kootenays, and Community Energy Association. With funding from BC Hydro, the materials are now available to be customized, adapted, and distributed to align with the needs of different businesses and local governments.
Contractors and Realtors
Home owners and house hunters often struggle to understand how they can benefit from a home energy retrofit. As a trusted professional, Realtors and contractors can support clients by clearly explaining the benefits of retrofitting, and by guiding clients through the process. These guides can be used on-the-spot to start a productive conversation with interested clients.
As well as using these guides, it is recommended to print off the Fact Sheet and to share the video (both above) so that you have something to leave with your clients as they consider their decision.
