We are thrilled that funding was announced today for two electric vehicle networks we support - mid-island and Charge North.
Charge North
Ready, Set, Charge!
Today the provincial and federal governments announced more than $760,000 in funding for Charge North – a community-led initiative that aims to electrify close to 2,800 km of highway across central and northern BC. Charge North is led by six regional districts in coordination with the Community Energy Association. The grant will support 55 Level 2 EV station in 25 Charge North communities and compliments the direct current fast chargers being deployed by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and BC Hydro.
“Charge North is an inspiring example of collaborative leadership – six regional districts and 43 municipalities, Indigenous communities and Northern BC Tourism, working together to address greenhouse gas emissions from transportation while supporting economic development and enhancing tourism opportunities. Community Energy Association is excited to now move the project from planning to implementation with funding support from the Province, NDIT and participating local governments.” Dale Littlejohn, Executive Director, Community Energy Association
