Columbia Basin Trust has joined forces with the Community Energy Association to deliver a series of 25 in-person workshops that will make homes more comfortable and energy efficient.
Energy efficiency experts will visit 25 communities across the region to show residents the affordable DIY improvements that can be completed on a home to make a meaningful difference to comfort and efficiency.
“Residents have told us they’re looking for practical information about improving home comfort and energy efficiency, but it can be difficult to know where to start,” said Ulli Mueller, Senior Manager, Delivery of Benefits, Columbia Basin Trust.
“Through this partnership with Community Energy Association, we’re bringing expert-led workshops to communities across the Basin so homeowners can understand their options and make informed decisions about future home improvements.”
By participating, residents will receive resources, take-home materials, and opportunities for follow-up support through partner programs.
Participants will learn:
• How to tell where energy is typically lost in the home.
• Simple behaviour changes that can make a difference.
• Low-cost, DIY improvements that can be completed in one weekend.
• Ways to find assistance making a whole home retrofit plan.
• How to access grants and rebates for deep energy retrofits.
The workshops are offered free and exclusively to residents in 25 communities across the Columbia Basin Trust region, from Fernie to Fauquier and as far north as Valemount. Three workshops will also be delivered directly with First Nations communities.
Workshops are delivered on behalf of the Columbia Basin Trust by Community Energy Association, which provides technical expertise and facilitation support.
