ABOUT THE TOUR
Electric mobility experts from Community Energy Association pulled up to local events across central and northern BC in an electric Mustang Mach-E to answer questions about EVs, offer test drives and meet with other EV drivers.
Tour Map
From Logan Lake to Terrace, our tour team stopped at 13 communities across the region.
Test Drives
More than 100 local residents took the Mustang Mach-E for a test drive.
Conversations
We chatted with 380 people across the north about all things EVs.
Charge North is a community-driven, collaborative program building an electric vehicle (EV) network across central and northern BC.
FAST FACTS ABOUT CHARGE NORTH
Charge North is a community-driven, collaborative program expanding the electric vehicle (EV) charging network across central and northern BC. The initiative began in 2018 by several municipalities and six regional districts in the Interior and Northern BC. Seeing the opportunity that EVs presented to local residents and businesses, while noting a shortage of public charging stations, they came together to find a way to support EV adoption in the region. They realized that collaboration would be key to increasing the number of charging stations that would encourage EV adoption.
With the support of the Community Energy Association (CEA), initial local government investments were leveraged to attract additional funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Northern Development Initiative Trust, and the Province of BC. With the support of other organizations, such as the Northern BC Tourism Association, BC Hydro, and the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, the partners completed a feasibility study and identified optimal locations for of charging stations.
Starting in 2022, Charge North is installing 58 charging stations in 31 communities – from Masset to Valemount and Fort Nelson to Logan Lake. All of these stations will be Level 2 stations: they add 30-40 kilometres of range per hour of charging.

ABOUT THE EV DISCOVERY TOUR
Meet our tour team! Danielle, the CEA electric mobility expert and project manager for Charge North, along with Carly and Amanda, the team from CEA joined a number of EV drivers at tour stops to answer questions about EVs, charging and more. At each event local residents had a chance to learn about different types of EV charging, see the Mach-E as well as other types of EVs.
The EV Discovery Tour supported Charge North’s objective to accelerate EV adoption by giving residents an opportunity to ask questions, hear from local EV drivers, and explore what it feels like to drive electric! Since EVs are becoming more popular in BC, we know it can be hard to find one at a dealership.
The tour covered 2300 kilometers and the Ford e Mach-E was able to make the trip emitting only 0.6% of the GHG emissions that an equivalent internal combustion engine would have on the same trip.
